How to Install Mobile Terminal on iOS 5

Mobile Terminal is an emulator tweak for iOS, which allows you to type Unix commands. You can install packages (DEB files) with dpkg command or change your root password with passwd command.

Mobile Terminal allows you to directly access the file system of  iOS  with a command line console, such as  OpenSSH

Compatibility:

  • iOS 4/iOS 5
  • iPhone,  iPod Touch and iPad

Mobile Terminal 520-1 for iOS 4.x and iOS 5 is available for download. 

1. First, you need to jailbreak your device iOS 4 or iOS 5 with the lastest version Redsn0w.

2. Running Cydia to install iFile will install on your iPhone.

3. Exit Cydia, Browsing the following URL address in Safari: http://code.google.com/p/mobileterminal

4. Downloads the file: MobileTerminal_520-1_iphoneos-arm.deb

5. Touch the name of the file (in the green box) to download. Press the Open in “iFile” button.

6. Tap the Installer button after the archive downloaded to iFile.

7. After the installation, tap Done in the upper right corner.

8. Exit iFile then respring or reboot your iPhone. The MobileTerminal icon will appear on the SpringBoard.

Download Mobile Terminal 520-1 

Now, you can run Mobile Termina to access a command line prompt.
