PwnageTool 5.1.1 is now available for download for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak. PwnageTool 5.1.1 allows you to create a custom pre-jailbroken IPSW firmware on Mac for your device Rocky-Racoon untethered jailbreak. PwnageTool 5.1.1 still only applies to iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and first generation iPad. iPhone 4S, iPad 3/2 are not supported.
PwnageTool also avoids any possible sync issues, but again it applies only to A4+earlier devices. If you unlock your iPhone with ultrasn0w or a commercial method, you must use PwnageTool to avoid updating your baseband otherwise you’ll lose the unlock. PwnageTool will also jailbreak+untether the AppleTV2,1 5.0_2B206f (unless you customize the IPSW further, you’ll have just basic SSH access to the device).
If you have an older device and want to create custom firmware iOS 5.1.1 and jailbreak it and after that you want to use Ultrasn0w 1.2.7 to unlock your device, then PwnageTool 5.1.1 is certainly the right choice.
Note: You can not preserve the baseband for iPhone 4S or iPad 2/3 with PwnageTool 5.1.1.
